Our Rookie year!
The members of Thornlea's Thunder Robotics, FRC team 8764 had an exceptional rookie year in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). Overcoming relentless challenges while designing, building, and optimizing their robot, Thunder Robotics won the Rookie All-Star award during the regular season events. Advancing to the Ontario District Championship featuring all teams from across Ontario, FRC 8764 won the prestigious Judges’ Award and the Highest Rookie Seed award.

“This year at Thornlea a First Robotics Competition team was started by a dream team of our students. Our robotics team had a stellar performance this year by winning awards in the regular season and advancing to the Ontario Provincial Championship based on their overall performance and ranking. At the Provincial Championship the team won two awards including the prestigious Judges Award, one of the biggest awards in the competition.
A special shout out to the team leaders of this robotics dream team: William Chen, Scott Wilson and Owen Pollitt. Your teacher will always remember his students from this year's robotics dream team who are graduating here.”
